Klamath Family Head Start
Serving 410 children in Southern Oregon, Klamath Family Head Start needed a site that would be easy for parents to navigate on their phones, clearly explain services, and communicate updates in the time of COVID.
Challenge
In August 2020, as Klamath Family Head Start navigated the difficult realm of how to offer Head Start programs during the pandemic, our team realized it was more important than ever to communicate with parents. Their new site would need a prominent announcement area, a place to showcase their services, locations, and resources. Job seekers must be able to find postings easily. And most importantly — give parents the ability to start the enrollment process.
“We are so pleased with our new website! Working with Erin and the Ruby Slipper Team was a great experience.”

Approach
The Ruby Slipper team got to work! After identifying strategic goals, our web designer Dena created a gorgeous, user-friendly interface. Our copy writer Rachel interviewed the Klamath Family team for content and crafted easy-to-read text. Then our programmer Fiew started building pages — and made sure they were iron-clad on all devices, especially mobile. Our team created several robust forms, including Enrollment forms in both English and Spanish. We even had those available while creating the site, so parents could get started on the application process right away.
“Erin always kept us moving forward, in an organized and professional manner. We appreciated her coaching and commitment to learning about us and our program.”

Results
The happiest, easiest-to-use website! Parents are flocking to the enrollment form (over 100 entries in less than 30 days), getting classroom status info, seeing CDC guidelines about kids attending school safely. Staff are able to share what they offer. Job seekers can see positions available. This site came together so quickly and has been met with such positive praise — we are thrilled!
“Erin was always attentive to our needs and remained positive during the most challenging times. We feel lucky to have found Ruby Slipper!”
