There are two new nature preserves in Southern Oregon! Sampson Creek Preserve and Grizzly Peak Preserve, both very close to Ashland, Oregon. This land is preserved in honor of Charles Selberg — a great teacher, mentor, artist, fencing master, and environmentalist. The mission of the Selberg Institute is to help conserve the unique ecosystems of the greater Cascade-Siskiyou landscape through scientific research, education and land stewardship.
Visit the website to learn about the lands and their unique features and creatures, to read the botanical and wildlife research studies that have been underway, and to see beautiful photos of these open spaces. Then plan your visit by filling out the application form.
This is a new organization, helmed by committed, brilliant, and kind people. It is our honor to work with this organization, and we give special thanks to the Executive Director, Maia Black, who carefully deliberated over every aspect of this website — the photos, color scheme, and messaging. Also gratitude to Christopher Cochran, the gifted programmer who helped bring this custom WordPress theme to life.
